GABLE – 1. A roof coming to one central peak.  2. The triangular end of that roof.  3. The triangular end of a protrusion extending out from a sloped roof.  The entire protrusion is called a DORMER.  4.  A movie star from the middle part of the 1900’s that appeared in “Gone With the Wind” and “It Happened One Night” (for those REALLY new agents, buyers and sellers).

GENERAL WARRANTY DEED – A deed in which the grantor warrants the title to the property for anything that has ever happened which may cause the grantee to lose the property title.

GENTLEMAN FARMER– A farmer or farm owner whose primary occupation is something other than farming.

GOVERNMENT NATIONAL MORTGAGE ASSOCIATION (GNMA or Ginnie Mae) – One of the main secondary market institutions.  As a branch of the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), Ginnie Mae purchases government backed loans (FHA and VA loans).

GRANTEE – The recipient of a deed to a property.  In a sale, this would be the buyer.

GRANTING CLAUSE – The clause in a deed, which states that a grantor is transferring a property to a grantee.  One of the essential elements of a deed.

GRANTOR – The party in a deed selling a property or giving the property to another party.
